After having a huge record breaking opening weekend last week, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has broken another box office record. There’s just one problem… this one’s not good!
According to Forbes, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice saw the biggest Friday-to-Friday drop ever for a superhero movie, at 81.2%. Overall, the movie dropped an estimated 68% in its second weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Those are North American numbers though, and worldwide the movie has made an estimated $682.8 million. That puts it past Man of Steel’s $668 million worldwide gross, and continues its journey to that $1 billion mark.
“We’re not concerned with the drop,” said Warner Bros. domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein. “No matter how you slice it, to get to $52 million on any given weekend is an enormous accomplishment. We’re most focused on where we are in total. And our global number is huge.”
