Jared Leto practiced his Joker laugh in public and freaked everyone out (video)

You know Jared Leto the actor, but did you know that he’s a big tech investor as well? Leto has made over 50 tech investments in companies like Uber, Slack, and Airbnb. While speaking to CNBC’s Squawk Box about his investments, talk of his role as The Joker in Suicide Squad came up, and Leto explained how he came up with that creepy laugh you’ve heard in the trailers.

“I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laughs would get under people’s skin,” Leto told the hosts Squawk Box. “You know when you hear someone laugh at a restaurant? It’s a little jarring. I tried them out. And I kind of got to a place where I would laugh and people are always turning around like, ‘Who is this creepy guy behind me?'” he added.

That was probably just the beginning of Leto’s strange behavior as The Joker. The actor stayed in character 24/7 while filming the movie, and even sent his castmates odd gifts like live rats, dead pigs, and used condoms.

You can see how this all translates to screen when Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th.
