New ‘Suicide Squad’ images and info from Total Film

The August issue of Total Film magazine has a big feature on Suicide Squad from their set visit last summer. I just read through the article, and while there’s not a ton of new info, there’s some interesting new details and images inside.

Perhaps the most revealing new piece of info is clarification on what those “creatures” that we see the squad fighting in the trailers are. According to producer Charles Roven, they are a mysterious force known as the Eyes Of The Adversary.

“Let’s just say, when they’re called in to do this mission by Amanda [Waller], these are one of the things they encounter,” Roven explained. “They don’t know how they got here, but they’re weird and dangerous and yet they’re wearing military uniforms.”

And because everyone loves them some Margot Robbie Harley Quinn, I might as well report what she had to say about her character.

“She is a very cheerful, bubbly sort of person. A lot of the comments were like, ‘She has this unflappable sense of humor. She’s so bubbly. She loves the Joker so much.’ So I definitely didn’t want to lose that. Having said that, [David Ayer’s] approach is the much darker side of the story, so it’s a bit of both,” Robbie said.

“Harley’s story is about her relationships — not just with him, but finding herself and her independence. Their relationship is nuts. It’s terrifying. She’s co-dependent with the Joker, and when you see that, you start seeing it as a mental illness.”

While Harley Quinn is a very likeable character, Jai Courtney explained that Captain Boomerang is a big a-hole!

“He’s sexist, he’s racist, he’s a total piece of shit and that’s something I’ve embraced fully,” Courtney said. “It’s Boomer’s job to state the obvious, do the wrong thing and annoy everybody with his ignorance.”
