‘Suicide Squad’ director David Ayer responds to negative reviews

The first Suicide Squad reviews hit the web at 12 noon, and by 12:29 director David Ayer sent out a cryptic tweet in response to them.

The tweet included a quote from Emiliano Zapata, a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution. The quote was in spanish but translated to “Its better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.”

Many fans interpreted this as David Ayer responding to the negative Suicide Squad reviews, since he sent it out shortly after they were published, and those fans were right! A few hours later, Ayer explained his previous tweet and elaborated on what he meant by it.

“Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life,” Ayer explained on Twitter.

Ayer stands by the movie that he made, and wouldn’t change a thing. And while the critics didn’t like, the fans will have the ultimate say. As long as the movie makes money, the future of the Suicide Squad in the DC Universe will be safe.
