Jared Leto is a man of many hats. Besides being an Oscar-winning actor, he’s also the lead singer of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. Over the weekend he hosted “Camp Mars”, an adult summer camp of sorts for his fans. More on that in a bit!
If you follow Jared Leto on social media, you know he loves rock climbing. He posts some pretty dangerous looking pictures of himself in the act. I’ve spoken about this on Twitter, and suggested that his Suicide Squad contract probably prohibits him from doing those kinds of activities. This is just standard Hollywood stuff. Studios want to protect their “investments”. It turns out, I was right!
During a Q&A portion at “Camp Mars”, Leto revealed that his Suicide Squad contract does have stipulations about dangerous activites like rock climbing, and Leto has one thing to say to Warner Bros. about it — “F*ck ’em!”. Watch him reply in his own words in the fan video below:
Apparently Leto opened up about Suicide Squad as well. A Jared Leto fansite on Tumblr published a summary about what he said:
He was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…
It sounds like he echoed a lot of the things he said in previous interviews while promoting Suicide Squad.
You can’t blame Leto for his frustrations over Suicide Squad, he genuinely seems hurt. I love that he’s being honest because he’s said multiple times now that the Joker had a much bigger role when he was offered the part. In the final cut of Suicide Squad, it’s basically just a 7 minute cameo.
