Doug Liman plans to “turn the comic book genre on its head” with Justice League Dark movie

In August it was reported that Doug Liman would direct Dark Universe, a Justice League Dark movie for Warner Bros. In a recent interview with IGN, Liman confirmed the news and explained that Warner Bros. hired him to do things that are “unconventional”.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

IGN: Justice League Dark/Dark Universe — are you excited about working on that?

Doug Liman: Yeah, I mean first of all, I love those characters, and I love Warner Bros., and I love [producer] Scott Rudin, and it’s — and you know, I get asked to come in and do things that are “unconventional.” If people want conventional, they don’t come to me. It’s why doing Invisible was like right up my alley — because how can you be conventional when there aren’t even conventions that exist? And so you know when Warner Bros. wants to sort of turn the comic book genre on its head, they call me.

It sounds like Liman is up for the challenge, he went on to tell IGN that since this is his first comic book movie he’s going to come up with some rules for himself to make sure he doesn’t go down the same path that others have. It’ll be interesting to see what he comes up with! Check out the full interview at the source link below.
