‘Suicide Squad’ had the most viewed IMDb movie page in 2016

IMDb has released a “Top 10 Movies of 2016” list, where they looked at the 10 movies that consistently ranked the highest on the IMDb MovieMeter chart throughout 2016. IMDb MovieMeter rankings are based on the actual page views of IMDb’s more than 250 million unique monthly visitors.

So which movie had the most viewed IMDb page in 2016? That would be Suicide Squad!

Anticipation was high for the first big-budget movie lead by supervillains. All the signs were good with a cast that included Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker and Margot Robbie as the baseball bat-wielding troublemaker Harley Quinn. Robbie stole the show and the film helped position her as IMDb’s top star of 2016. And while there were naysayers for the film, written and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad took more than $745 million at the worldwide box office and made it the most popular movie on IMDb in 2016.

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War was #2 on the list, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice coming in at #3.

Earlier this month Margot Robbie’s IMDb page was revealed as the most viewed actor page in 2016. And last week Google revealed that “Suicide Squad” was the 10th most searched term across the globe. It was a big year for Suicide Squad all around!
