Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was announced as Black Adam way back in September of 2014. He’ll star in Shazam, which is currently scheduled for a 2019 release. During a recent YouTube Q&A, Johnson was asked what made him want to play Black Adam.
“Look… I love the role of Black Adam,” Johnson said. “I love that he starts off as a slave, that he felt like he was wronged. I just love that backstory. And I think that Black Adam has always been, for me, the most intriguing superhero.”
This past Christmas, The Rock and Henry Cavill teased something between Black Adam and Superman in the DC Films universe. Now we just need to know who is playing Shazam!
