Ben Affleck gets brutally honest as to why he’s hesitant to make ‘The Batman’

Warner Bros.

Despite what Ben Affleck said on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week, it’s clear that he’s been wrestling with the idea of making a Batman movie for a while. His back-and-forth public comments about it are evidence of that.

In a new interview with USA Today, Affleck may have been the most honest yet about this entire situation. It seems like the pressure of a movie like The Batman is really weighing down on his shoulders.

“Superhero movies get the level of attention that is nothing like any film I’ve done. You cast the 14th lead in these movies and the Internet goes crazy,” Affleck said. “I understand and embrace that. That’s part of the pressure that comes with doing it. That’s why I am not going to do it, unless I really feel confident about it.”

“But when that day comes, should that day come, I’m sure that’s going to be the most pressure, the most stress I have ever experienced in my professional life,” he added. “There’s no doubt.”

A lot of that pressure may be coming from Warner Bros., as they set release dates and production dates earlier than Affleck intended. Hopefully he’s able to endure that pressure when he’s ready, and give us all the Batman movie we’ve been waiting for.
