Last year during a conversation with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Michael Shannon told a hilarious story about his time on Man of Steel and how he landed the role of General Zod.
Right off the bat, Shannon wasn’t sure if Henry Cavill’s name was Henry or Harry. He says he mixes them up all the time. He then revealed that he didn’t even have to audition for the General Zod role. Director Zack Snyder flew him out to his house, pitched the whole movie to him, and that was it. He did have to do a chemistry test with Cavill though, to make sure the audience would buy them as “lovers”, Shannon joked.
