Christopher Nolan on how the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy’ prepared him for ‘Dunkirk’

Warner Bros.

Christopher Nolan is hard at work on his second movie since wrapping up his amazing Dark Knight Trilogy back in 2012. The new movie is called Dunkirk, and it’s based on true events that took place during World War II.

Nolan was in Las Vegas at CinemaCon this past week, and the Los Angeles Times caught up with him to chat about his intense new war movie. A few Batman questions were thrown in at the end of the interview, you can check those out below.

Did you carry anything from your time on ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy to ‘Dunkirk’?

I think the time I spent making large scale entertainment — with respect to entertainment, this is suspenseful entertainment. My 10 years of working with the character [of Batman] is essential to understanding imagery and sound, and push-and-pull in a particular direction.

Ben Affleck, who plays the new Batman, is also here in Vegas. Do you follow the new Batman films?

No, no, I don’t want to go into that. I’m here to talk about “Dunkirk.”

Ok then! You can check out the Dunkirk trailer below.
