Since last December, fans have speculated that Armie Hammer joined the DC Films universe based on his social media activity. Once Hammer noticed the attention, he played it up and constantly trolled fans. Sometimes even with the help of Joe Manganiello and Geoff Johns.
In a new interview with Collider, Hammer was specifically asked about Green Lantern rumors and trolling DC fans online.
“Man, jeez… It was fun for a while and now I’m convinced that everyone’s gonna turn on me so I’m like ‘Oh shit, slowly backing away,'” Hammer said with a laugh.
In regards to Green Lantern, Hammer said: “I have nothing to confirm nor deny. The only talk of me being Green Lantern that I have heard in my life has only come from social media.”
It’s interesting how he only mentioned Green Lantern. I was never convinced he was cast as Green Lantern. He started trolling fans around the time The Batman was expected to go into pre-production, before Affleck dropped out as the director. I was always convinced that was the DC movie he was in, especially with him hanging out with Joe Manganiello so much.
Hammer’s latest comments don’t help us pinpoint exactly who he’ll be playing in the DC Films universe, but I do believe we’ll see him in there one day. My guess is that he’ll be Nightwing, but let me know what you think in the comments below.
