The first issue of Batman/The Shadow is one of this year’s big surprises. Despite one or two little stumbles, it’s an engaging detective story from Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando with some stylized art from Riley Rossmo. For fans of a more detective oriented Caped Crusader, it’s a breath of fresh air. Plus, it brings one of Batman’s influences back into the public eye, creating opportunities for the pulp hero to engage a new generation of fans.
It won’t be another month until the second issue drops, but DC Comics have sent an early look at Rossmo’s finishes on the first few pages and a killer variant cover from Tim Sale. Enjoy this sneak preview and be sure to pick up issue 2 on May 24th.
