Tom Hardy is best known to Batman fans as playing the villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, but last weekend he was a hero!

Hardy took down a thief in London, and it was no easy feat. He had to run through gardens and a construction site to apprehend the thief, who had crashed a stolen moped and fled on foot. The Sun mapped together the scene of the crime:

“It was mental – like he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie. Two boys on the nicked moped had jumped a red light and smashed into a car,” an eyewitness told The Sun.

“Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding.”

A police spokesman confirmed the news to the BBC: “We can confirm that there were two people on a stolen moped that went through a red light and crashed into another vehicle. The males ran off and one was detained by Tom Hardy. Both suspects were initially taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
