Joel Kinnaman says ‘Suicide Squad 2’ is expected to shoot next year

Suicide Squad 2 is still searching for a director as the script gets worked on, but according to a star Joel Kinnaman (who plays military leader Rick Flag in the franchise), the current plan is for the sequel to begin shooting next year.

“As far as I know they’re writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change,” Kinnaman told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think I’ll definitely come back for it.”

Earlier this year we learned that Adam Cozad, who wrote last summer’s The Legend of Tarzan for Warner Bros., is in talks to write Suicide Squad 2. Legendary director Mel Gibson is at the top of WB’s list to helm the movie, and he’s confirmed that he’s interested and that meetings have taken place.
