Jaume Collet-Serra is top choice to direct ‘Suicide Squad 2’

Jaume Collet-Serra is Warner Bros.’ top choice to direct Suicide Squad 2, Deadline is reporting. Collet-Serra was rumored as a possible contender earlier this year.

Mel Gibson was the top choice to direct Suicide Squad 2 at one point, and he seemed interested, but it sounds like Warner Bros. has moved on to someone else.

Update: The Hollywood Reporter says that Suicide Squad 2 script delays pushed the production start date back and forced Mel Gibson to move on. A new story treatment was recently turned in by Zak Penn, who wrote X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk, and the story for The Avengers. Now a new script will be written based on that.

Collet-Serra has directed movies like Orphan, Non-Stop (starring Liam Neeson), The Shallows and will re-team with Liam Neeson again in next year’s The Commuter.

Variety has added their own reporting to this news, and says Warner Bros. would love to have Suicide Squad 2 in production by March 2018. As always, stay tuned to Batman News for all the latest!
