What a crazy week of movie news! Yesterday we learned that Warner Bros. was developing a Joker origin movie that would take place outside of the DC Extended Universe, and tonight The Hollywood Reporter is back with news about a Joker movie that will take place inside it.
Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who direct and executive produce the hit NBC drama This Is Us and who also wrote and helmed Crazy Stupid Love, are in final talks to write and direct a Joker and Harley Quinn movie. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are set to reprise their roles from Suicide Squad.
THR’s sources describe the movie as “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.” The Joker/Harley Quinn movie will come after Suicide Squad 2, which is being fast-tracked and is currently looking for a director.
