Warner Bros. has been searching for a Suicide Squad 2 director all year, with the hopes of getting the movie started sooner rather than later. According to a new report, they’re probably going to have to wait a bit longer.
Variety’s Justin Kroll’s sources say that Suicide Squad 2 won’t go into production until the fall of 2018, at the earliest. The reason? Will Smith will be busy with Disney’s Aladdin (he’s playing the Genie) and another movie called Gemini Man.
So hearing at the earliest, SUICIDE SQUAD 2 won't go in to production until fall 2018 because of Smith's schedule with ALADDIN and GEMINI

That means Suicide Squad 2 probably won’t hit theaters until 2020, and movies like The Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff and Gotham City Sirens will be even further out than some fans had hoped.
As of right now, Wonder Woman is the only movie with a confirmed 2019 release date. Though Shazam is expected to be released sometime in 2019 as well.
