Patty Jenkins officially signs on to direct ‘Wonder Woman 2’

It’s been a long couple of months of negotiations, but today Variety is reporting that Patty Jenkins has officially signed on to come back and direct Wonder Woman 2.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that Jenkins will also be a producer on the Wonder Woman sequel. She’s co-writing the script with DC Films president Geoff Johns. THR says Jenkins’ new deal is in the $7-9 million range (she’ll also get a piece of the box office revenue), and makes her the highest-paid female filmmaker in history.

Last month it was reported that Jenkins and Warner Bros. were “close” to signing a new deal. The hold up? Jenkins expected to be paid just as much as a male director. With Wonder Woman making over $800 million worldwide, Jenkins deserves every penny she’s being paid for Wonder Woman 2.

Wonder Woman 2 is scheduled to be released on December 13, 2019.
