‘Justice League’ and ‘Wonder Woman’ push Warner Bros. to $5 billion at the box office for the second time ever

Justice League may be struggling at the box office, but Warner Bros. as a whole had an incredible year overall. The company announced today that it crossed the $5 billion mark at the worldwide box office this year, hitting it for the second time in the company’s history.

Warner Bros. was proud that it had five movies gross over $500 million worldwide — Wonder WomanIt, Justice League, Kong: Skull Island, and Dunkirk. Wonder Woman was their biggest movie of the year and made $821 million, which was a big help in them hitting the $5 billion milestone. Justice League appears to have given them the last boost they needed to hit that mark.

“We are thrilled to reach this extraordinary benchmark as we come to the end of an amazing, record-setting year,” Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing and distribution, said. “Surpassing $5 billion in a single year can only happen with an incredible level of hard work across all theatrical divisions, as well as the invaluable contributions of the many talented filmmakers and actors with whom we are so fortunate to collaborate.”
