‘Shazam’ is still coming out in April 2019, Warner Bros. confirms

Way back in October of 2014, Warner Bros. announced a slate of DC movies and release dates. One of the few to actually get made and keep its original date from that 2014 announcement is Shazam. Warner Bros. announced today that Shazam will hit theaters on April 5, 2019 — the same date given back in 2014. The movie will be released in IMAX theaters, but no word on if it’ll be shot in that format.

If every other movie from that 2014 announcement was as stable as Shazam, we’d be getting Justice League 2 in 2019 as well, along with Cyborg and Green Lantern movies in 2020. Obviously things have changed since 2014 and that won’t be happening. For fun, here’s the original movie announcement from 2014:

  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – 03/25/16
  • Suicide Squad – 08/05/16
  • Wonder Woman – 06/23/17
  • Justice League Part One – 11/17/17
  • The Flash – 03/23/18
  • Aquaman – 07/27/18
  • Shazam – 04/05/19
  • Justice League Part Two – 06/14/19
  • Cyborg – 04/03/20
  • Green Lantern – 06/19/20

Now how about a release date for Man of Steel 2?
