Joel Kinnaman thinks ‘Suicide Squad 2’ will be more “grounded” with less “sorcery”

One of the biggest complaints about Suicide Squad was with the supernatural villain Enchantress played by Cara Delevingne. Even director David Ayer admitted that if he could do it all over again, he’d make Jared Leto’s Joker the main villain instead.

Yahoo caught up with Suicide Squad star Joel Kinnaman recently and asked what he thought went wrong with the movie. He gave his reply while adding what he thinks fans will see in Suicide Squad 2.

“In the third act,” Kinnaman replied. “It was a great set-up, great characters. I think when we do the second one I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a more grounded version of the film. The characters are so extreme it could be more effective if we saw less sorcery. I think the characters become more extreme if you see them in conjunction with real people.”

Gavin O’Connor is set to direct Suicide Squad 2, which is expected to go into production by the fall.
