In January, Green Lantern Corps writer/producer David Goyer had no idea when fans could expect an update on the movie, but maybe it won’t be too far if a new rumor turns out to be true.
According to That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. is interested in Mission: Impossible – Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie for Green Lantern Corps. McQuarrie has also written and directed action movies like Jack Reacher and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
And what do all of those McQuarrie action movies have in common? They starred Tom Cruise. Last year when we first heard about Green Lantern Crops it was reported that Cruise was on Warner Bros.’ wishlist for Hal Jordan. If this rumor about McQuarrie directing is true, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cruise is the first person he offers the role to.
Update: The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez says that Warner Bros. and McQuarrie were in talks last October and couldn’t come to a deal, but That Hashtag Show insists their info is as recent as last month.
