‘Wonder Woman 2’ will be shot with IMAX cameras

Many of the DCEU movies have been released in IMAX, but so far only Batman v Superman has actually been shot natively with that format. Until Patty Jenkins gets back on set later this summer, that is!

IMAX has announced that “select sequences” in Wonder Woman 2 will be shot using their large format cameras. Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX, made the announcement on a recent earnings call.

And lastly, I’m excited to announce that Wonder Woman 2, which comes out in the second half of 2019, will be shot with IMAX film cameras in select sequences. This Warner Bros. DC production, the sequel of the global juggernaut from 2017, is directed by Patty Jenkins and produced by Chuck Roven and Rebecca Oakley Roven. And we couldn’t be more excited that IMAX has been chosen to be a part of the film’s design.

Much like in Batman v Superman and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, the black bars will disappear and the image will fill the entire screen if you see Wonder Woman 2 in IMAX. Hopefully the IMAX aspect ratio makes it to home video as well. Nolan’s Batman movies included the IMAX scenes on Blu-ray, but Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman did not.

Will you be seeing Wonder Woman 2 in IMAX? Let me know in the comments below.
