It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about The Rock’s Black Adam movie, but Yahoo caught up with him recently while he was promoting his new movie Rampage and got an update.
“The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it,” Johnson teased. “If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie — in production.”
Johnson went on to praise Marvel’s cinematic universe and said that DC is still finding their footing and tone, citing Wonder Woman and the upcoming Aquaman as movies that he was excited about. The Rock said that part what they’re working on now with Black Adam is finding out how it connects to the rest of the DC Extended Universe. You can check out the full interview in the video above.
If Black Adam begins shooting in 2019 like The Rock hopes, it could be released in 2020 or 2021 at the latest. We may not have to wait that long though. A rumor says that Black Adam will be introduced in Suicide Squad 2 and that movie starts shooting later this fall.
