There were rumors this week that The Batman was heading into preproduction, but things aren’t that far along yet according to The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez.
Gonzalez says he got an update on The Batman and the script won’t even be turned in until after Labor Day, which is a holiday in the US that takes place on September 3rd. Preproduction could start by the end of the year, but Birds of Prey and The Flash will be shooting before The Batman. That means a production start date of next summer is most likely.
The last official update we got on The Batman was from director Matt Reeves earlier this month. At the time, he said he would be turning in a draft of his script in the “next couple of weeks”. His hope was that filming would begin by early summer of 2019.
