We had heard that Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix would begin filming in New York City in September, but now we have a more exact start date.

The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez tweeted this afternoon that Joker begins production in two weeks. That means we should expect things to get started the week of September 10th. Expect some set photos to be released online if filming takes to the streets of NYC. Hopefully that means we’ll get an official look at Phoenix as The Joker soon too.
In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, Joker also stars Robert De Niro. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2019.
