Way back in 2013 when we learned that Batman v Superman would include an older Batman, Jon Hamm was at the top of a lot of fans wish lists. Now, five years later, he’s being asked if he’d be interested in playing Batman… and his answer is yes! For Hamm, playing Batman would just depend on a couple conditions — a great script and great story.
“It depends on the script, what the story is,” Hamm told Graham Bensinger in the video interview above. “I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I’ve read comic books since I was 9 or younger. And I’m pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they’re done well.”
Hamm acknowledged the rumors and fan interest online, but admits that he’s never been approached to play the Dark Knight. “I think the internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the internet,” he said.
With Ben Affleck not expected to continue as Batman, Hamm would definitely be a great replacement. He’s close to Affleck and age, and they share a lot of the same physical features as well. There’s just one problem… all signs point to The Batman director Matt Reeves looking to cast a younger actor in the role. At 47, Hamm may have missed his shot.
