We know that Birds of Prey will feature Harley Quinn, Huntress, Black Canary, Renee Montoya, Cassandra Cain, and Black Mask, and now rumors about how they all come together in the plot are starting to roll in.
According to Revenge of the Fans, here’s what the main characters are up to in the movie. If this is all true, some mild plot spoilers will follow…
- Black Canary is a singer who fights crime at night.
- Huntress was a killer for Black Mask right up until discovering that he killed her family. So now she’s hunting him down.
- Harley Quinn is trying to move on from The Joker (who is referenced, but not seen).
- Renee Montoya, on the other hand, is on Huntress and Black Mask’s trail because of the body count they’ve amassed.
Revenge of the Fans goes on to say that the plot involves the main characters above trying to save Cassandra Cain, a 12-year old Asian assassin, from Black Mask, who has kidnapped her and wants to train her to kill for him just like Huntress used to do. Montoya, who is a Gotham police officer, realizes that the Birds of Prey aren’t entirely bad, and ends up helping them on their quest to save the young assassin.
But we won’t see Cain get rescued as a big finale at the end of the movie. Revenge of the Fans says that happens before the movie’s third act, and the team (presumably along with Cain) take on Black Mask and his henchmen to close out things out.
Revenge of the Fans also claims to have heard a rumor about an “epic cameo” in Birds of Prey, but wants to do a bit more digging before reporting it because it “sounds way too good to be true”.
