This past spring, Warner Bros. released a bunch of Justice League concept art on their WB Movies All Access app along with the digital release of the movie. The concept art above is believed by many fans to be of a young Darkseid, and director Zack Snyder seems to have confirmed that theory on Vero.
“Searching for something that would make him unbeatable,” Snyder said on a post of the concept art. This scene looks like it would’ve been a “history lesson” of Darkseid’s origins in the movie.
Update: In another Vero post, Snyder confirmed that this is indeed a look at a young Darkseid, when he was going by the name Uxas.
Darkseid was going to be part of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, but when the movie was changed during reshoots, Darkseid was removed along with other parts setting up a big sequel.
