We’ve heard all about the talent in front of the camera, with many Birds of Prey casting announcements coming over the last few weeks. Today, we have some news about an important member of the crew.
GMA News caught up with cinematographer Matthew Libatique, to talk about his two new movies Venom and A Star Is Born. When asked what was next for him, Libatique revealed that he’s working on Birds of Prey — though he cautions that probably won’t be the official title.
“I’m in preparation on a film currently called ‘Birds of Prey.’ It’s probably going to have a different title,” Libatique explained. “It’s with Warner Bros., and the director is Cathy Yen. Who directed a film called ‘Dead Pigs’ which is a Chinese film. I’m excited. It’s in the superheroes genre but this time it’s in the DC universe, not the Marvel universe. Margot Robbie is set to star and I’m excited for that. And then it has a little bit of origin story in it, so it makes it intriguing and it’s very early though, so early discussions.”
Birds of Prey, or whatever it ends up being titled, is scheduled to begin shooting around January. It hits theaters on February 7, 2020.
