David Mazouz Pens Farewell Note to Sean Pertwee as Gotham Wraps Production

As Gotham wraps production on its final season, some of the actors are sharing their final scenes together. Chief amongst those relationships that may be difficult for the actors to say farewell to is David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne) and Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth).

While Alfred has always been Bruce’s guardian in every take on Batman, Gotham played up the father-type role more than most others. Considering the amount of screentime Mazouz and Pertwee shared, it was inevitable they would get close. On their final day shooting together, Mazouz posted a note for Pertwee on his Instagram account along with a photo of them together in what appears to be the GCPD captain’s office set.

Today marks the very last time I will work with this man on Gotham. It’s hard for me to know what to say. Sometimes I feel like Sean knows me better than I know myself. He always knows what I’m thinking and feeling, always making sure I’m ok, which I think is a testament to how close our relationship has been over the last third of my life.

And over those five years, I’ve learned what it means to be a gentleman, professional, and unabashedly talented from this man. I am sad my days with him (on Gotham) have come to an end but I am eternally grateful for my experience with him and happy for the people who will be recipients of his light next. Thanks Sean.

The final season of Gotham will debut on Jan. 3, 2019.
