Pennyworth Adds Polly Walker in a Recurring Role

Polly Walker (Line of Duty) has signed on to a recurring role on Epix’s upcoming Pennyworth prequel series.

It’s been a little bit since we heard much about the upcoming Alfred prequel series, Pennyworth. We had a flurry of info back in October with Jack Bannon being cast as Alfred, and Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne. Since then things have been a bit quiet, but that now appears to be changing.

According to Deadline, Polly Walker has been cast as Peggy Sykes, the sister of Bet Sykes (Paloma Faith). While Bet is a successful dominatrix in Lancashire, Peggy is the reportedly the sensible one in the family that lives by her own rigorous moral code.

The upcoming Pennyworth series is slated for 10 one-hour episodes and will follow Alfred, a form British SAS soldier, as he goes to work for Thomas Wayne as his security detail. The series is from Gotham alums Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon. Heller will serve as showrunner, while Cannon will be an executive producer and direct the pilot episode. While both men have worked on Gotham, the new show will have no connection to it.

Epix has not yet announced a target premiere date for Pennyworth, but stay tuned.
