Joel McHale has joined the cast of DC Universe’s Stargirl as Sylvester Pemberton, Starman from the days of the Justice Society of America.
According to Variety, the role is being described as “Golden Age Starman,” and will be a recurring role on the series. For those unfamiliar with television casting terminology, that means he won’t appear in every episode of the series.
Stargirl has entered production yet, but it seems to be gearing up to start in the not too distant future. Brec Bassinger was cast as Stargirl some time ago, and additional cast has been added in the past couple weeks. With Swamp Thing currently filming, one has to suspect that will wrap production shortly into the new year, and Stargirl could begin filming somewhere around March. That is just a guess on our behalf at this time.
Stargirl is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. In the U.S. it will air exclusively on DC Universe, but no word as of yet on international rights.
