Another day, another box office milestone for Aquaman. The film is now up to $201.4M in China making it just the fourth superhero movie ever to cross the $200M mark in the territory. Forbes anticipates the film is mere days away from passing Ready Player One ($218M) as Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing movie in China.
Aquaman is now set to eclipse $300M before its domestic release this Friday (or Thursday night). The early international success is giving Aquaman a lot of positive headlines that could help sway anyone still on the fence to go see the movie this weekend.
Warner Bros. is assured of a global hit. The only question that remains is just how high Aquaman can go. North America will go a long way in deciding whether Aquaman ends up int the $700M pool or $800M (and beyond).
