Mattel has gone old school with its television commercial for Aquaman toys and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Although Mattel is set to lose its DC action figure license in 2020, it seems that it isn’t going to go out with a whimper. Building off the box office success of Aquaman, a new TV commercial has been released for the toy line, As someone who was born in the 70s and lived through the golden age of licensed cartoons packed with toy commercials, this brought back a ton of nostalgia for me. Toy commercials used to be something you looked forward to seeing, and this definitely falls into that category.
We’re not quite sure what prompted Mattel to go this route with the advertising, but all we can hope is that it decides this was an awesome idea and does more of it.
Aquaman is currently playing in theaters around the world.
