David Ayer has proud dad moment over new Harley Quinn reveal

David Ayer may not be directing Birds of Prey, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be proud of what he helped create.

Following the reveal this week of Harley Quinn’s look for Birds of Prey, a fan asked David Ayer – the director of Suicide Squad – if it was a proud dad moment. He replied, “Yes it is,” followed by a happy emoji.

While Harley Quinn was originally created for Batman: The Animated Series, and later joined the comics, Ayer played a large role in shaping the look of Margot Robbie’s take on her in Suicide Squad. With her tattos intact – despite rumors they would disappear in this film – this is very much Ayer’s vision of Harley.

The Birds of Prey movie will star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and she will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress,  Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask.

The Birds of Prey movie opens on Feb. 7, 2020.
