With the confirmation last year that we will see Batman before the end of Gotham, fans have been wondering how the series would handle it. With five seasons under his belt as Bruce Wayne, it feels like David Mazouz should get to put in the suit, but he isn’t as tall or hulking as most would imagine Batman. The Gotham execs came up with a solution, however.

Speaking at the Fox TCA presentation on Wednesday, some footage was shown to journalists of Batman, and then the process was explained to them.

It sounds as though when we see distance shots, shots in the shadows, or anything physical, it isn’t Mazouz in the suit, but close up of the face will indeed be him.

Overall that seems like a reasonable compromise. Yes, it would have been perfect if he could do both, but he was hired to play a young Bruce Wayne for five seasons, no one could expect him to transform overnight to Batman proportions.

Gotham returns on Feb. 14 with an episode entitled “13 Stitches.” No word yet on when exactly we will see Batman on the screen, but the general assumption is in the final episode of the series which should air in the spring.
