Warner Bros. brings back ‘Aquaman’ writer to pen the sequel

Warner Bros.

It did not take Aquaman very long to earn a sequel. Warner Bros. is moving forward with a second installment and the studio has tapped David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write it, according to The Wrap.

Johnson-McGoldrick co-wrote the screenplay for the first film, sharing credit with Will Beall. The story for the first film was written by Beall and Geoff Johns. There is no mention of Beall or Johns returning for the sequel at this time.

In addition to the Aquaman sequel, Warner Bros. is also developing The Trench as a spinoff film.

Warner Bros. hopes to lure James Wan back to the franchise. He’s producing The Trench and the plan is for him to direct Aquaman 2. It has previously been reported, however, that a great script needs to be in place before negotiations will begin.

That’s where David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick comes in.
