UPDATE: McFarlane Toys has now issued a press release. You can find it at the bottom of the post.

With only days to go before the New York Toy Fair, it has been announced that McFarlane Toys has been granted a three-year license to produce action figures based on DC characters. According to a report from IGN, the deal covers ‘ultra-posable action figures’ in the 6 to 12-inch range.

This is a bit of a surprise as in Dec. it was announced that Spin Master had been granted a DC license for action figures. Apparently, the license will now be split with Spin Master handling the more mass market-friendly figures and McFarlane taking the higher-end collector’s market.

2019 will see the last DC-related release from Mattel in regards to general figures. It will, however, keep the license for the DC Superhero Girls property.

McFarlane Toys is on a bit of a tear it seems with Warner Bros. products at the moment. It has also been announced that it will be launching a series of figures based on the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchises.

Due to the new deals not kicking off until 2020, no new figures are expected to be displayed by Spin Master and McFarlane Toys this weekend in New York. Regardless, Batman-News will be in attendance at the trade show and will be bringing you continuing coverage of DC-related announcements.
