Birds of Prey set phots give first hints to Black Mask

While Birds of Prey set photos have been popping up pretty frequently as of late, what we haven’t seen is Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask, or even any hints to him. Finally, some new set photos at least gives us some clues to his involvement.

Following up on a set of photos showing Harley (Margot Robbie) walking away from an explosion, more have surfaced that appear to be the ‘before’ images. You see her jumping out of a truck as it heads towards a set of gates. While it takes a few images to get the full name, you can see the gates are labeled “Janus Co…”. We aren’t clear if it will say ‘Costmetics’ or ‘Company,’ but either way that is the name of one of Black Mask’s companies in the comics.

This isn’t the first time the name “Janus” has appeared on a building in the DCEU. Previously it was spotted on a building during the early moments of Justice League while Batman (Ben Affleck) was attempting to take down a Parademon.

We still haven’t seen McGregor himself, but this at least gives us some idea that the character will at least somewhat hue towards what we know from the comics. Now the only uestion is what he could have done to anger Harley.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask. Ali Wong has even joined the cast in an unknown role.

The Birds of Prey movie will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
