No, we haven’t traveled back in time to 2015 somehow. Warner Bros. is discussing a new Constantine series, and reportedly Matt Ryan is the man being sought to resume the role.

According to We Got This Covered, Warner Bros. has been impressed with how the animated fare has done as well as how Ryan’s turns on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow have been received. According to unnamed sources, this has led to discussions about a new Constantine series and that Warner Bros. does what to keep Ryan in the role.

The big discussion will, of course, be whether or not the series would go to The CW or to DC Universe. It would seem to us that DC Universe would be the easy answer due to the freedom it would give them with the character. Add in the potential ties to the upcoming Swamp Thing series, and it seems like a great idea all around. Additionally, thanks to his ties to the Arrowverse, if they did ever want to connect everything, he would be an easy conduit.

The CW, on the other hand, just feels like it wouldn’t be as easy to be faithful to the source material thanks to commercial support and censors. It would essentially be like being back at NBC all over again.

NBC was never the right fit for the character, but it’s also amazing how much the landscape for comic book TV shows have changed in just the last few years. Now the series could probably work, it’s just a matter of getting all the pieces moving again.
