Birds of Prey hits the Warner Bros. lot in new set photos

Birds of Prey has had set photos showing up left and right. While most of the set photos have included at least some of the cast, and even one shot included all of the main female leads, but the latest batch is a bit more low-key.

If we were to guess, this is probably some second unit filming – the insert shots that don’t require the actors in them and fill in some of the gaps in stories.

With so many movies going all over the world now to film thanks to tax breaks, there’s something almost quaint and reassuring about seeing one filmed in Hollywood. Add in filming on the actual Warner Bros. lot which has been around 90 years, and it just feels right in some odd way.

Of course, how bright, sunny, California is doubling for what we always imagine to be dark and dreary Gotham City remains to be seen.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask. Ali Wong has even joined the cast in an unknown role.

The Birds of Prey movie will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
