UPDATE: The list has been debunked by two sources it seems. Original story follows below.
A new report has surfaced of the five actors reportedly being looked at to don the cowl in Matt Reeves‘ The Batman.
Before we dive in, we need to be very, very clear that this list is not confirmed as of yet and has to be considered rumor. That being said, here are the five.
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Godzilla)
- Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games)
- Jack O’Connell (Godless)
- Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Midsommar)
- Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix)
This list, should it prove to be accurate, definitely plays into the rumors that the next Batman seen on screen will be earlier in his career than Ben Affleck’s was. The youngest actor is Ludwig at 26, and Hoult and Taylor-Johnson tie for oldest at 29.
Even if no one on this list makes the final cut, it definitely gives us an idea as to what Reeves’ is looking for. All of them have pronounced chins, darker hair, similar heights with O’Connell being the shortest at 5’8″ and Hoult the tallest at 6’3″.
With The Batman due to hit theaters on June 25, 2021, we’re probably still several months out from an announcement of who the role will go to. Even after that happens, considering the number of villains rumored for this film, then we have a whole round of wondering to do on filling out the Rogues Gallery.
