Jai Courtney says he’s back as Captain Boomerang in The Suicide Squad

The status of The Suicide Squad just got a bit more confused as Jai Courtney is saying that he will be back as Captain Boomerang.

Speaking with Business Insider on Friday to promote his upcoming movie, Storm Boy, Courtney said, “We’re getting ready to shoot in a few months’ time. There’s not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you’ll be seeing Boomerang back for sure.”

This, of course, just makes the entire saga of The Suicide Squad that much more confused. While we know Will Smith is out as Deadshot, and it looks as though Idris Elba is in, and Margot Robbie is back as Harley, the list of characters for the film never mentioned Boomerang. You add in that producer Peter Safran has said this film is “a total reboot,” and things get even more confused.

And, no, we didn’t forget the rumors that Viola Davis may also be back as Amanda Waller.

At this point it’s beginning to feel as though the more we hear about James Gunn’s film, the less we truly know. Since this new information comes directly from Courtney it’s hard to disbelieve it, but you do have to wonder what is going on at this juncture.

The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on August 6, 2021, hopefully we don’t have to wait quite that long to get a clearer picture of the plans.
