It appears that Olicity fans are going to go through the stages of grieving a bit sooner than they first expected.

Season 8 of Arrow has already been announced as the final season and will consist of only 10 episodes. The assumption was with such a shortened season that everyone would appear, but it seems it’s not to be. Emily Bett Rickards took to her Instagram account on Saturday to announce that she would be departing the series.

The time has come to talk of many memes. Of bows and arrows and superheroes and Olicity and Queens
And why TGA is so damn hot
And yes, canaries need more scenes… But wait just one minute
before we go and do all that
For this makes me out of breath
To have this not small chat

Felicity and I
are a very tight two
But after one through seven
we will be saying goodbye to you

I thank you all for the time we’ve shared
The elevators we have climbed
The monsters we have faced and scared
And The burgers we have dined
I will keep her in my heart for always
And I hope that you can too
Because she would not be alive if it weren’t for all of you

Love,

Felicity and Me

The CW has yet to issue a statement on the matter. However, Stephen Amell, the Arrow himself, has liked the post which certainly seems to be some form of confirmation.

The character of Felicity was introduced in the first season as a one-shot character, but due to Rickards chemistry with Amell, she was invited back repeatedly until she was made a series regular.

Arrow will be ending with season 8 which will begin airing in the fall.
