Jared Leto teases Birds of Prey involvement

It seems that Jared Leto may be teasing the idea that he isn’t quite done playing the Joker.

Just as set photos appeared online of ‘the Joker’ throwing Harley (Margot Robbie) out of the house in Birds of Prey, Leto shared a memory online of just a clown.

OTHER: Maybe Jared is appearing/voicing Joker in ‘Birds of Prey’ after all from DC_Cinematic

The implication, of course, has to do with the Joker. And it certainly seems to suggest he is involved in some way with the film, but he is currently in England filming Morbius, which deepens the mystery a bit. One theory is he may just be providing a voice-over for the apperance and it can all be handled without showing the Joker’s face.

Up until now it had seemed the Joker wouldn’t be involved in the film, but from a story standpoint it makes complete sense he would need to be involved in some way. As the title of the film says, it is the ’emancipation of One Harley Quinn,’ so narratively we have to see what led her to this point. If it’s a limited role, and everyone feels they can go the route of just a voice over, then more power to them. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Of course, then it makes you wonder who the body double might be.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask. Ali Wong has even joined the cast in an unknown role.

The Birds of Prey movie will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
