A new report has surfaced saying that Joel Kinnaman is coming back for another mission with the Suicide Squad.
According to a report from Discussing Film, Kinnaman will be returning for The Suicide Squad, but it’s unclear how large of a role he will have. It could be a brief cameo or he could be leading the team again. It’s just not known at this point.
Peter Safran, one of the producers on The Suicide Squad, has been saying repeatedly this new movie isn’t a sequel. It’s beginning to feel like perhaps he has missed some meetings. As it stands right now, it looks like Deadshot is coming back – although it won’t be Will Smith playing him. Margot Robbie has been rumored for ages to be back as Harley Quinn. Jai Courtney has been talking up his return as Captain Boomerang this past week. And we’re hearing Viola Davis is coming back as Amanda Waller.
If all of these rumors prove to be true, we’re going to be mighty puzzled how this movie is not considered a sequel.
There is a rumored list of new characters coming to the film that has been floating around since mid-March, and now it’s beginning to sound more and more as though it may be a mixing of teams. A few from the David Ayer film, a few from Gunn’s new group.
At some point we’ll get a clarified picture of what is happening, we just don’t know when that will be exactly.
The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
