Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) finally got to show off some cop skills on the set of Birds of Prey this week, but we’re not sure how happy Harley (Margot Robbie) will be about it.
Following up on the set photos of Harley apparently running from the police, it appears that Montoya may be trying to apprehend her.
This is beginning to feel more and more like this connects to Harley driving with handcuffs on. It feels like Harley and Cain (Ella Jay Basco) meet in jail, get away somehow, and that leads to the involvement with Huntress and Canary. This is complete, and total speculation on our part, to be clear.
Despite the constant onslaught of set photos, there has been a distinct lack of anything even hinting at the plot of the film. We know Harley gets thrown out by the Joker, and beyond that it’s a lot of speculation about what scenes mean.
We can’t wait for a full trailer on this movie to start clearing up some of what is going on here. But our guess is we won’t see that until San Diego Comic-Con in July.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask. Ali Wong has even joined the cast in an unknown role.
The Birds of Prey movie will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
