Jai Courtney talks his return to Captain Boomerang

It seems that perhaps Jai Courtney wasn’t quite yet authorized to reveal he’s coming back for The Suicide Squad, but the cat’s out of the bag now.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his new film Storm Boy, Courtney was asked about his surprise announcement that he was coming back for The Suicide Squad. “Yeah, I am,” said Courtney. “I said it the other day in an interview and I felt like I let the cat out of the bag. I haven’t been sworn to secrecy about it so I guess it’s okay to say that I will be.”

Of course, he repeated all of this already in another interview, so it’s seeming like this is pretty definite at this point.

Courtney went on to add, “I loved playing Captain Boomerang. It’s just like a rockers nightmare. Just looking forward to reprising that and getting the gold tooth back in and getting after it.”

Courtney isn’t the only cast member returning it seem with Margot Robbie has been rumored for ages to be back as Harley Quinn. And we’re hearing Viola Davis is coming back as Amanda Waller. And there is even some talk of Joel Kinnaman returning as Flagg.

As to new cast members, Idris Elba was originally said to be playing Deadshot, but that has now changed. And John Cena is currently rumored to be playing Peacemaker.

There is a rumored list of new characters coming to the film that has been floating around since mid-March, and now it’s beginning to sound more and more as though it may be a mixing of teams.

The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
